Meatballs are good, but meatballs that are pre-cooked for you are even better. I love the Trader Joe’s frozen meatballs and use them for sandwiches, pizza and calzones. It’s perfect for nights when I’ve had a long day because I can set it and forget it until it’s time to eat. These sliders can be made up in less than 30 minutes and make me feel like I’m at a restaurant!
WHY IT TASTES GOOD: The meatballs and sauce on their own are both kind of “meh,” so this recipe brings out the best in both of them.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Trader Joe’s frozen meatballs
- Trader Joe’s jarred marinara
- Buns (I used ciabatta buns)
- Tillamook mozzarella cheese
- J.L. Kraft garlic aioli
- Medium sized saucepan
- Small cookie sheet
HOW TO MAKE IT:
- Pour the marinara and meatballs into the medium sized saucepan and bring to a very light boil, before reducing heat to about medium and simmering for 20 minutes (stir occasionally)
- When the meatballs have about 10 minutes left, put the oven on broil (HI)
- Spread the garlic aioli on the buns, place on the cookie sheet and slide into the oven to broil until toasted
- Pull the buns out of the oven, top with meatballs/sauce (after it has heated for the full 20 minutes) and mozzarella (mozzarella will melt in about 2-3 minutes) and enjoy!
